Part-time training is also possible at Nagel-Group! We are committed to promoting flexible training models that meet the individual needs of our trainees. At our branch in Völklingen, we have successfully introduced the part-time training model to offer young people who want to combine work and private life an attractive option.
One example of this is our trainee Derya-Ferhan Usluoglu. She is training with us as a freight forwarding and logistics services clerk and is also the mother of two young children. Thanks to our flexible training model, she was able to reduce her working hours from eight to six hours a day. This enables her to continue her training and meet her family commitments at the same time. As a result, her training is only extended by just under six months - a small price to pay for the work-life balance.
Our Head of Training and HR Susanne Gießelmann emphasizes: „The suitability of a trainee for our company should not depend on the working hours, but on the person's skills and interests. Flexibility in training helps us to retain qualified talent and at the same time take account of the trainees“ life situations."
With part-time training, we offer a win-win situation for both sides. For us as a company, this means continuing to have qualified trainees in the team. For the trainees, the flexible structure makes it easier to combine work and private life. This also makes us attractive to older applicants who may not be coming straight from school but already have a family or other commitments.
At Nagel-Group, our trainees pass through all relevant departments - regardless of their working time model - and gain comprehensive insights into the world of food logistics. Derya-Ferhan Usluoglu, for example, is currently working in scheduling, where she is learning to coordinate journeys and react flexibly to changes at short notice. Despite the reduction in her working hours, she is fully integrated into our team and carries out her tasks with the same care as before.
This model of part-time training offers not only young mothers and fathers, but also people with other commitments or special life situations an opportunity to shape their career path with us. In times of a shortage of skilled workers, we rely on flexible solutions like this to appeal to a broad target group and promote talent.
